Tunnel Vision.
Meetings attendees will soon have an easy way to beat the heat when traveling from one attraction to another up and down the Las Vegas Strip. They’ll do it underground in Tesla vehicles. Since launching the Loop underneath the Las Vegas Convention Center ((LVCC) in January of 2021, the system connects the LVCC and Resorts World Las Vegas. The Boring Company, the Elon Musk founded firm building the Loop has been working to expand the underground tunnels to connect to more than 50 stations across the city connecting major attractions like Harry Reid International Airport, UNLV, Allegiant Stadium, and numerous popular resorts.
According to The Boring Company, a fleet of driverless Tesla Model 3, Model X, and Model Y vehicles which reach speeds reaching 155 mph is fully up and running, enabling riders to travel underground across the LVCC grounds in under two minutes. It would usually take more than 20 minutes to walk the same route.
The Loop was designed to serve as an innovative, fun and quick transportation solution to move thousands of convention attendees throughout the more than 200-acre campus with the potential for expansion in the near future to ease congestion throughout the Las Vegas resort corridor. “This marks an important milestone in the future of transportation,” said Steve Hill, LVCVA CEO and president. “Las Vegas is proud to lead the way as the first and only destination to offer an underground transportation solution for moving visitors throughout our convention center.”
Organizations scheduled to host trade shows in Las Vegas such as CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023 are eager to take advantage of this new mode of transportation. “AEM and our show committees of industry leaders are working to take advantage of everything that has changed in Las Vegas to deliver a top-notch event delivering the latest innovations and best practices to help construction pros take their businesses and careers to the next level,” said Dana Wuesthoff, show director of CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023. “Between the West Hall and Diamond Lot bringing a lot of displays closer to the rest of the show as well as serving as a connector to the Festival Lot, and the LVCC Loop making it effortless to get across the entire Las Vegas Convention Center, it’s going to be easier for attendees to see everything they want to learn about when they get there.”
