Dream Big, Event Planners

Say goodbye to drowsy delegates: Hyatt’s sleep solution promises wide-awake attendees

Hyatt Hotels Corporation, in collaboration with Headspace, is offering event planners a powerful new tool: the “Headspace’s Science Behind Sleep, presented by World of Hyatt” video series. Designed to combat travel-induced sleep disruptions, this initiative aims to ensure attendees are rested, engaged, and ready to maximize their event experience.

Recognizing that sleep quality is a top priority for travelers, as highlighted by a recent Hyatt survey showing that three-in-four consumers prioritize sleep when traveling, this program addresses a critical need. For event planners, this translates to more focused attendees, improved networking, and ultimately, a more successful event.

“Traveling, especially for large-scale events, often throws attendees off their sleep schedules,” says TJ Abrams, Vice President of Global Wellbeing, Hyatt. “This video series provides practical, science-backed solutions that planners can leverage to enhance the attendee experience and ensure they’re alert and engaged throughout the conference.”

The five-episode series, available in guestrooms at nearly 400 Hyatt hotels and on the Headspace app, provides expert tips on managing jet lag, creating a travel bedtime routine, mindful eating, and leveraging morning sunlight. Planners can highlight these resources in pre-event communications, on event websites, and even during conference welcome speeches.

“Imagine attendees arriving at your conference feeling refreshed and ready to absorb information, rather than battling jet lag and fatigue,” says Emma Nemtin, Head of Consumer Partnerships and Distribution at Headspace. “By incorporating these sleep-focused resources, event planners can create a more productive and impactful event.”

Practical Applications for Event Planners

Pre-Event Communication: Include links to the “Science Behind Sleep” series in pre-event emails and on event websites, encouraging attendees to prepare for their travel.
On-Site Resources: Highlight the availability of the series on guestroom TVs during conference check-in.
Wellness Breaks: Incorporate short mindfulness or sleep-focused sessions into the conference agenda, utilizing Headspace content.
Attendee Amenities: Consider offering sleep-enhancing amenities in attendee welcome bags, such as sleep masks or calming teas, and mentioning the sleep series.
Post-Event Follow-Up: Share key takeaways from the series in post-event communications, reinforcing the importance of sleep and wellness.

By strategically integrating the “Science Behind Sleep” series into their event planning, organizers can demonstrate a commitment to attendee well-being, fostering a more positive and productive conference environment. This initiative provides a unique selling point for Hyatt properties, positioning them as leaders in attendee wellness and offering event planners a distinct advantage in a competitive market.
