Hyatt Expands Lifestyle Hotel Portfolio

Hyatt acquires pioneering lifestyle brand Standard International, and Bunkhouse Hotels

In a move that will significantly expand its presence in the lifestyle hospitality sector, Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the acquisition of Standard International and most of its brands. The acquisition will create a new lifestyle group under Hyatt, bringing together Standard International’s collection of trendy hotels with Hyatt’s extensive resources and global reach. This means that meeting and event planners will now have access to a wider range of unique and stylish venues for their events.

The acquired portfolio will be 100 percent asset-light and includes management, franchise and license contracts for 21 open hotels with approximately 2,000 rooms, including The Standard, London, The Standard, High Line in New York City, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon and boutique treasures the Bunkhouse Hotels brand like Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin, Texas and Hotel San Cristóbal in Baja California, Mexico. Following the closing of the transaction, Hyatt plans to integrate these hotels into World of Hyatt.

“The team behind Standard International has created a unique and award-winning portfolio of brands and properties that turn the status quo on its head and have attracted a loyal following among the most discerning lifestyle guests for the past 25 years,” said Mark Hoplamazian, President and Chief Executive Officer, Hyatt. “These properties truly drive the zeitgeist, creating destinations unto themselves with celebrated and talked-about programming and events, such as the Met Gala afterparty. We are thrilled to welcome Standard International’s properties and team to the Hyatt family with the newly created lifestyle group and draw on their brilliance, creativity, culture and innovation.”

A Wider Range of Venues

Standard International’s portfolio includes some of the most sought-after hotels for meetings and events, such as The Standard, High Line in New York City and The Standard, Hollywood in Los Angeles. These hotels are known for their trendy design, innovative dining concepts, and vibrant atmosphere. With the acquisition, Hyatt will now have a wider range of venues to offer meeting and event planners, catering to a variety of tastes and budgets.

Standard International’s hotels will also be integrated into Hyatt’s World of Hyatt loyalty program. This means that meeting and event planners can now earn and redeem points for their events at Standard International hotels. This is a major benefit for planners who are looking to maximize their rewards and benefits.

Streamlined Planning Process

Hyatt’s acquisition of Standard International will also streamline the planning process for meetings and events. Planners will now be able to work with a single point of contact for all of their needs, regardless of which hotel they choose. This will save planners time and effort, and ensure that their events are executed flawlessly.

Overall, Hyatt’s acquisition of Standard International is a positive development for meeting and event planners. It will give planners access to a wider range of venues, enhanced loyalty benefits, and a streamlined planning process.
